Booster Cushion Theatre is currently touring our traditional tales shows throughout the UK to primary schools. There are several shows which are ideal for this theme and information on all can be found under our ‘Shows’ page. We aim to make theatre accessible to everyone, everywhere and so each of the shows can work to a wide ranged audience or adapted to specialised groups.
One of our most popular shows for traditional tales topics is Little Red Riding Hood and Friends, as it is a comical mixture of several fairytales. When Little Red’s friend arrives to tell us the story, he goes to read from his book but then is shocked to see..there are no pages! He needs the audience’s help to tell the story, and along with their suggestions we get to meet the rest of Red’s family. But even they can’t solve the ending to the story so the narrator takes matters into his own hands and contacts Red’s best friend – Cinderella. She arrives dancing a conga with Jack’s Baked Beans Band but manages to stop dancing in time to let the narrator know he needs to find the Wolf at the end of the story. But where is he going to find a Wolf at this time?! Maybe he’ll just have to look in the audience…
A Booster traditional tales theatre show for primary schools is a great way to encourage children to take a greater interest in the stories they have heard before, and to create their own. We make sure to involve children in all of our shows with lots of improvisation and chances to join in with the show to make it unique for them. There are lots of chances for follow up work with the children, whether it be creating their own stories or characters, making their own Big Books or productions.
We travel with a full backdrop and lights to create a theatrical performance in almost any space, but can also play in venues without light or sound requirement. Please note that we are an incredibly flexible touring company as our shows are solos, so we can usually respond to late notice dates if you have one in mind.
