We started the Summer Reading Challenge in Stourbridge Library with our Mythical Maze themed Old McDonald and the Three Pigs Plus. It was a lovely day and the library had lots of signups so great to see more children reading this summer! Everyone got to take part as the mythical creatures on Old McDonald’s farm, and we saw a lot of unicorns, a medusa, and even a cyclops!
Our adaptation of Old McDonald and the Three Pigs Plus had the Three Pigs sick of singing eieio in the barn on Old McDonald’s farm, so they decided to move out across the fields. But on their journey across they find and meet lots of different mythical creatures from cylopses, unicorns, Medusa, Loch Ness Monsters to Yetis! But even the mythical maze monsters don’t try and blow down the houses – that’s the not so Big or Bad Wolf, and it’s up to the audience to help save them.
This is a fast and funny show featuring a Big 5m wide book with pop ups and lots of audience participation with children getting to play the mythical monsters.
Our shows fit ideally into library spaces, and the Big Book always look great amongst the book stacks. We transform the whole space into a theatre experience, as we bring a Big Book, backdrop and lights.
