Old McDonald took another visit to Hackney at the Seabright Centre. It was a very busy sunny day and we were so lucky to enjoy our performance outside. A great bonus of Booster Cushion Theatre shows is that we can enjoy them in a variety of spaces. A traditional tales show for nursery is a great way to introduce them to stories and show them how they can make their own versions as we twist the usual stories they may have heard before!
One example of a traditional tales show for nursery that we present are ‘Old McDonald and the Three Pigs Plus…’. It’s set can be seen above, and you can see that we tell it through a Big Book with a colourful backdrop to really set the scene. The story mixes the nursery rhyme of Old McDonald Had A Farm and the traditional tales story of The Three Pigs. The pigs get fed up of singing eieio everyday on the farm and they decide to move out of the barn, where they meet lots of other farm animals and see lots of food growing in the fields. But when they try and build their houses they are visited by a wolf who keeps trying to blow down their houses and they need the audience’s help to stop him!
This is a silly and simple show and is a great introduction to theatre. There is lots of chances for the audience to interact, as they get to play the farm animals with lots of silly props, come up to the Big Book and help to harvest the fields and even help to scare away the Wolf by playing the Three Pigs!
As you can see from above, our shows are extremely flexible and can be presented in a variety of spaces – inside or out. We want everyone everywhere to enjoy theatre and so our shows can be especially adapted to fit the audience’s ages and abilities – which can be useful the show is operated as a drop in and out session.
