Booster Cushion Theatre recently visited Lauderdale House with one of our fastest and funniest shows, Little Red Riding Hood and Friends – a solo show with lots and lots of changes! We specialise in the comical retelling of fairytales and this show mixes the classic tale with many others. Booster’s shows focus on lots of audience participation, so it was great at Lauderdale that we had two packed audiences ready to audition to be wolf cubs, help out Little Red’s friend and cut down trees with Little Red’s dad!
Little Red Riding Hood’s friend has arrived and tries to tell the audience the story with his Big Book, but is shocked when the book is empty. So he asks the audience for help and they meet Red Riding Hood’s mum, grandma who loves knitting and her tree cutting dad. They go into the forest where we meet Cinderella who keeps dancing a conga with her Jack’s Baked Bean Band. Red Riding Hood’s friend can’t seem to find the end of the story and Cinderella comes up with the idea that wolves need to be auditioned!
This is one of Booster’s fastest and most participative show. With fast changes between each character it is surprising that there is still a chance for the audience to help cut down the trees in the forest with Red’s dad, dance the conga with Cinderella, audition to be wolves and maybe one special wolf will get to end the story! This is a great retelling and twist on the traditional tale to keep audiences on their toes.
