‘Hansel, Gretal and You..Who?’ is a comical take on the fairytale that most audiences will have heard before. Booster turns this story completely on it’s head and has brother and sister getting lost in the forest and getting taught sports by the forest animals as well as needing to be saved by the Gingerbread Man from the Witch! This features lots of audience participation, with children getting to draw on the Big Box Book’s whiteboards, using our colourful animal props to portray the forest animals and even helping save Hansel and Gretal from the Witch.
Hansel and Gretal have been turned into oven gloves and think that the best way they can make the most of this is going on a journey around the world to learn about different types of food. They end up learning how to say hello in lots of different languages, discover a map of the world and about the different foods around the world. But they end up bumping into lots of forest animals who all want to teach them about the sports they should play to stay fit and healthy. While taking part in an audience relay race, Hansel and Gretal fall into the Witches Kitchen and need the Gingerbread Man’s help to escape!
Our Hansel and Gretal theatre show for KS1 has been used in a variety of settings from school halls and classrooms, to storytelling festivals like Sting In The Tale – Dorset and library/theatre settings. As with most of Booster’s shows, we can be incredibly flexible and fit into almost any space, inside or out, with little electricity or sound requirements. This is an ideal show to fit in with the comical retelling of fairytales theme.
