The Janitor and Book Man visited Blackheath Halls this February with our big book theatre production ‘Big Book Tall Tales’. We had a great time telling the story of the water cycle with everyone, drawing some great pictures and helping Book Man find the story. Seeing the Big Book highlighted behind the bright red curtains to match it’s cover was great to, and our rainbow light wash looked great! Below are some pictures from our visit and hopefully you will see us soon at Blackheath Halls again.

Big Book Tall Tales features a 6ft tall book which has been left in an old forgotten storage room. The janitor arrives to tidy up and gets distracted talking about all his favourite books. He starts to investigate the storage room and accidentally falls into the Big Book transforming himself into Book Man. When he tries to read the pages on the story, he can’t find any words – as they’ve all been washed away! So he asks for the help of the audience to think of words for the story and takes us on a journey around the water cycle for how they were washed away…

Below you can see the Big Book and how it is worn by our narrator to tell the story. The pages even turn while worn as well and always capture the audience’s attention with just how bright, colourful and big they are!

This is a comical theatre production and features lots of participation from the audience as they get to take part as parts of the water cycle and helping the narrator to think of the story the Big Book could have told. This is a flexible production and can fit into a variety of spaces. We travel with a full backdrop design of a library, our Big Book and our own set of lights to transform any space into a theatre production.

Above you can see the Big Book in it’s completion – as it has turned from a book into a rainbow!
