After getting lost in the forest, Hansel and Gretal wandered into Charters Nursery for a special performance. Lots of hiding in trees and playing sports with the audience, as we had some very enthusiastic forest animals ready to teach us their favourite sports and about the ways they know how to say ‘hello’.
‘Hansel, Gretal and You..Who?’ is a fun and muddled version of the classic fairytale that early years will have heard before. The children will get to discover a map of the world, get lost in the trees with the narrator and learn all about the different forest animals that Hansel and Gretal met when they got lost in the forest. They get to use our silly, colourful animal props to become the forest animals and teach everyone else their favourite sports leading to a massive audience wide relay race. But then Hansel and Gretal get lost in the Witches Kitchen and it’s up to the audience to help save them with the help of the Gingerbread Man.
Our version of Hansel and Gretal for nursery is a great way to introduce them to theatre or the fairytale. It also makes for a very fun treat for summer or Christmas. From the pictures through this post, you can see how we completely transform a space, as this room is originally used for dance classes in a YMCA! We bring a range of backdrops to fit your space, travel with our own lights and have props and Big Books which can fit a variety of spaces. We are used to working with the constraints that a nursery might have and usually have solutions for any problems you might have bringing a theatre company in!
