Booster Cushion Theatre have toured our Old McDonald show for Nursery throughout the UK hundreds of times. This month we toured to one of our favourite day care nurseries in Essex from ages from 2 to 12 – everyone got to have lots of fun helping Alistair McAlistair on his farm! We have played for groups of small children with just 10 in nurseries to over 100 children and their families and ‘Old McDonald and the Three Pigs Plus…’ is always a great introduction to theatre.
Featuring a 5ft tall book with 2.5m pop ups, our show features lots of participation from the audience, with everyone getting involved singing the song and pointing out all the fruit and vegetables growing in the fields, children in the audience getting to play the animals on the farm and even one animal gets picked to play The Three Pigs. This story is a comical mix between the Old McDonald song and the story of the Three Pigs, so is ideal for early years who are just learning about these topics.
Old McDonald is incredibly flexible to fit into a variety of nursery spaces, big or small. We have played to halls with over 200 nursery aged children in to just small groups of 30 in a small attic space. As you can see above, we have a special set up with the backdrop, special lighting which just plugs into normal sockets that we bring ourselves, the Big Book and lots of props. This is our standard set up but we have just played the show with our Big Book in VERY small spaces in fact this show was played out of a living room! Our aim is to take theatre anywhere and everywhere.
