Booster Cushion Theatre have 8 touring shows to primary schools throughout the UK. One of our most popular as an addition to the literacy curriculum is Big Goldilocks and the Three Bears Plus for KS1, as many in this age range study topics based around fairytales or creative writing based around this. A Booster performance is a great way to engage and excite the children to take an interest in the stories, reading and hopefully be inspired to create their own retellings!
Featuring a BIG 6ft tall with 2.5m pop ups, the audience are amazed by the Big Book which turns the pages for each part of the story – we get to see Big Goldilock’s house, an Animal Rescue Centre, massive Cornflake packets and the 3 bears house! Big Goldilocks wanders off into the forest, grumpy, hungry and tired. She meets loads of woodland animals on her way and to avoid her grumpiness they plan to escape away into the sky using the Animal Rescue Centre. But the Bears want their house back and the audience works together to scare Goldilocks away!
This features lots of participation from the audience as they get to come up and pretend to be the woodland animals disguised with our colourful costume props, sing along to the Animals Went In Two By Two and one child even turns into the Three Bears to scare away Big Goldilocks. This is a funny, friendly theatre experience for KS1 and a great addition for literacy topics such as fairytales or the retelling of traditional tales. There is lots of chance for follow up work as children can be encouraged to write their own retellings of Big Goldilocks after seeing the show.
